KOTA Longboards was among the 2015 Wright Award finalists in Denver, Colorado. 2015 finalists included some of Colorado’s very best emerging and start-up companies across a wide range of industries.
Each year, one Colorado company is awarded The Wright in recognition of its enterprising spirit and commitment to the notion that working hard and do good work is rewarded.
“As a finalist for the 2015 Wright Award we consider ourselves fortunate to be among some of Colorado’s most elite and innovative enterprises. This comes during vibrant time in Denver’s, and Colorado’s, economy.” said KOTA Longboard founder Mike Maloney.
Selected from a statewide pool of 125 nominees, the 11 contenders, including KOTA Longboards, were challenged to convey their vision and inspiration in a 90-second video. The video also must highlight the role that Colorado plays in shaping their company. “These contenders represent a mindset, a can-do approach to business,” said Chuck Sullivan, co-founder of Something Independent. “These are the companies carrying the torch for the Colorado brand and this is their 90 seconds to make the industry believe.”
“These companies are Colorado. They play an important role in shaping our communities and the state’s economy,” said Luis Benitez, Director of Colorado’s newly established Outdoor Recreation Industry Office. “Opportunities to come together and connect with industry peers can lead to new collaborative initiatives and present a platform to show the rest of the country what Colorado is really about.”
